Mission:  To retain, expand and provide new job opportunities for people who live in Las Vegas, San Miguel County and adjacent communities and counties, and to further enhance the economy through proactive, thoughtful planning and development.

Founded in May of 2000, the Las Vegas San Miguel Economic Development Corporation (LVSMEDC) is funded from a combination of private businesses, The City of Las Vegas and The County of San Miguel. It operates as an independent corporation on a 5 year Strategic Planning cycle. Strategic initiatives include:

• Stabilize and improve existing businesses

• Incubate new business ideas into growing companies

• Attract targeted businesses to our area that compliment our community objectives, match our water availability, fit our workforce skill sets, and bring living wage jobs to the workforce.

LVSMEDC investors represent a wide spectrum of the community including individuals from the business sector and governing agencies. LVSMEDC officially is recognized as the clearinghouse for all economic development by Ordinance #01-19 by the City of Las Vegas and a separate ordinance passed by the San Miguel County Commission. The Board of Directors is comprised of thirteen individuals, eleven elected from the membership and one appointee from each of the City of Las Vegas and the County of San Miguel. An annual meeting is held in February of each year and is open to the membership and to the public.

Funding comes from individual investors, the City of Las Vegas general fund, and San Miguel county. Other funding sources include grants, grant management, matching funding from various sources, and expected revenue from operations.
