By statute Las Vegas is a municipality in mayor-council form with an elected mayor and four city councilors. The city manager is the chief administrative officer. Las Vegas is the San Miguel County seat. Elected county officials include a county clerk, county assessor, county treasurer, a county sheriff, and five county commissioners. The county manager is the chief administrative officer. In the state legislature Las Vegas and San Miguel County are represented by two representatives and two state senators.
