ABOUT LVSMEDC

Mission… 

To retain, expand and provide new job opportunities for people who live in Las Vegas, San Miguel County and adjacent communities and counties, and to further enhance the economy through proactive, thoughtful planning and development.


Founded in May of 2000, Las Vegas San Miguel Economic Development Corporation (LVSMEDC) is funded by private sector business investment, the City of Las Vegas and the County of San Miguel. LVSMEDC operates as an independent not-for-profit corporation. Strategic initiatives include:

  • Stabilize and improve existing businesses;
  • Support entrepreneurs with new business ideas;
  • Attract targeted businesses that complement community objectives, match water availability, fit workforce skill sets, and bring living wage jobs to the workforce.

LVSMEDC is recognized officially as the clearinghouse for all economic development by City of Las Vegas Ordinance No. 01-19 and by San Miguel County Ordinance No. SMC 05-3-08. The Board of Directors is comprised of 13 individuals, eleven elected from the membership and one appointee from the Las Vegas City Council and one from the San Miguel County Commission. An annual meeting is held in February of each year and is open to the membership and to the public.

  • Expand and Improve Dee Bibb Industrial Park

Entrepreneur Network

  • Growing Entrepreneurs Network (GEN) help new and existing businesses fill the gaps and create a more dynamic merchant and professional community.

Target New Business

  • Research community-appropriate businesses that complement the resources and culture of Northern New Mexico
  • Form partnerships to develop new business/industrial clusters, including inter-model transportation hub, small timber industry, alternative energy, and medical manufacturing clusters
